Annual Business Plan Competition

Over the past 20 years, our EnterPrize Challenge has awarded 76 grants to start-ups and existing businesses alike to help them succeed. As a direct result of these grants:

  • $129.5M brought to the Amarillo economy
  • 762 jobs created

The success of this program is why it will continue to be a part of what the Amarillo EDC does to improve our local economy.

How the Challenge Works

Hosted by the West Texas A&M University Enterprise Center, the EnterPrize Challenge begins every September when entrepreneurs attend workshops and complete their applications. The WT Enterprise Center then provides business-planning workshops with best practices to write their business plans and be successful in the EnterPrize Challenge. After their business plans are submitted in the spring, a panel of community leaders narrows down the contestants and give finalists the opportunity to present their plans. Winners are selected and awarded a portion of the $500,000 funding from the Amarillo EDC.
