Recreation

Staying active and entertained is easy in Amarillo. Not only do we feature an integrated network of paths for running and biking along with more than 60 parks throughout the city itself, we are also adjacent to the “Grand Canyon of Texas.” This 30,000-acre park has spectacular vistas and a number of ways to enjoy the outdoors including camping and cabins.

Active Options

  • Golf courses – with 4 public and 4 private courses, there are many opportunities to tee it up
  • Tennis – our public parks include an extensive tennis complex
  • Swimming – three public swimming pools and 9 splash pads give many options to dive in

Entertainment Choices

  • Tri-State Fair and Rodeo – averaging more than 130,000 people, this annual event grows every year
  • Wonderland Amusement Park – the “Texas Tornado” roller coaster is just one of the reasons 200,000 visitors a year frequent the 3rd largest amusement park in Texas
  • Splash Amarillo Water Park – high speed slides, a giant wave pool and the lazy river are just some of the reasons the Panhandle loves this park
