The Amarillo EDC controls six tracts near the Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport.  

  • Tracts 1 and 2 consist of 43.2 and 57.1 acres and have Airport Boulevard frontage.  Utilities capable of servicing these tracts are available along Airport Boulevard.  
  • Tract 3 consists of 85.9 acres.  This tract may be easily serviced with utility extensions from Airport Boulevard.  
  • Tracts 4 and 5 consist of 153.7 and 127.8 acres and are bordered to the south by BNSF Railway infrastructure.  Tract 4 may be easily serviced with utility extensions from Airport Boulevard.
  • Tract 5 consists of 56.6 acres and is bordered to the north and south by BNSF Railway infrastructure.  This tract may be easily serviced with utility extensions from south of the BNSF Railway line.

Amarillo's electric utlity, Xcel Energy, operates a substation located at the point of concurrency of tracts 4, 5 and 6.  This substation has a total of 28 MVA of output and is currently carrying only 8 MVA of load.  Thus, 20 MVA of capacity is available to service any size development within the above areas.
