Pacific Cheese Co Adds Second Shift
17-Dec-2008

Just one short month ago Pacific Cheese Co started production at their new facility in the Amarillo CenterPort Business Park. A contract with Taco Bell is behind the initial activity for production. The company processes 40-pound blocks of cheese from Hilmar Cheese in Dalhart by shredding and repackaging it to wholesaler’s specifications. Currently, one shift is almost at capacity, and a second shift is scheduled to start December 15th, said Mark Rudolph, from Pacific Cheese. After the first of the year, Pacific Cheese will transition production of their other national customers to the Amarillo plant. The family-owned company also owns operations in Hayward, Calif., and Reno, Nev. The Texas facility improves efficiency in distribution to customers in the Southwest and Southeast. More expansion efforts are expected at the plant in 2009. The current building, at almost 100,000 square feet, can hold four production lines.
