Today, the Amarillo EDC board approved a $31 million expansion project for Bell Helicopter. This new project is a 137,000 square foot flight hanger that will be used for UH-1Y (Huey) and AH-1Z (Cobra) aircraft. This new expansion will free up existing V-22 (Osprey) hangar space for increased flight operations. Construction on the new flight hangar will begin in October 2009 and be completed October 2010. The increase will enable the company to meet aircraft deliveries as they increase production of all three aircraft models. The project will also increase the number of jobs, payroll and local spending in the Amarillo community. |
