Xcel Energy / Southwestern Public Service Co. has announced its intent to build a new leased corporate headquarters building in downtown Amarillo. The project entails a 114,000 square foot building and multi-story parking garage on the city block currently occupied by the Renniassance Office complex and a city parking lot. Minnesota developer Opus Corp. proposes building the $42 million structure and leasing it, long-term, to Xcel subsidiary Southwestern Public Service Co.
