As more and more Amarillo area manufacturers continue to upgrade and modernize their production processes, there developed an increased need to enhance the skill levels of the Amarillo work force to facilitate the implementation of new industrial technology by local companies.
In 2004, Amarillo College sought assistance from the Amarillo EDC in establishing a Robotics Technology Training program. The Amarillo EDC provided a grant of up to $690,000 to be used for developing a curriculum, upgrading facilities, purchasing equipment, operational expenses and faculty training.
