After moving to Amarillo from Dodge City, Kansas, Steve Donnell and his wife Donna started Amarillo Cattle Feeders at the site of an abandoned feedlot, concentrating on preparing large cattle for moves to other feedlots by restoring them to health from any diseases they were susceptible to after a change in environment, and preparing calves for moves to summer pastures.
In 2002 they were awarded a $40,000 grant to improve the water system at the plant, redo pens and add a commodity barn to store hay and grain out of the weather thus expanding their operations by servicing regional dairies and eventually expanding into a line of hormone-free beef.
Steve & Donna Donnell’s operation is located at 10400 East FM 1912, Amarillo Texas, 79108 and can be reached at (806) 352-5302 or 335-3147.
