Texas Tech School of Medicine and Allied Health

The Texas Tech Health Sciences Center significantly increased its presence in Amarillo in 2000 with the construction of a new Texas Tech School of Medicine and Allied Health building, located on the school’s campus at Harrington Regional Medical Center.  Previously housed in three separate facilities at the medical center, the new Medical School facility is located next to the Texas Tech School of Pharmacy.  The Amarillo EDC provided a $500,000 incentive grant to assist in the $19.5 million project.  Since 1990, the number  of students and employees at the Health Science Center in Amarillo has grown from just a few hundred to well over 1,000.
