Arden was founded in 1964 in Detroit, Michigan. Its mission was to provide quality products and services to the retail community. The first products were cleaning pads and laundry bags, made in a factory in Ionia, Michigan. From its earliest days Arden was built on integrity, commitment to employees and consumer value. In 1983 Arden moved its manufacturing facility from Michigan to Kendallville, Indiana. In 1985 the company acquired Paradise Manufacturing of California, a major regional supplier of outdoor replacement cushions, umbrellas and related accessories. In 1990 Arden acquired Benhar-Angus Mills, a manufacturer of kitchen textiles for the retail and institutional markets. Arden also produces garden accessory products and many branded items under a variety of both proprietary and customer-developed labels.
Today, Arden’s headquarters are in Southfield, Michigan; and there are six manufacturing facilities, in North Carolina, Indiana, Texas and California with over 1000 employees and factory alliances in Europe and Asia. The company is the nation’s largest supplier of outdoor replacement cushions and umbrellas. Its scouring products and textiles are sold by virtually every major retailer in the United States and used in homes and restaurants throughout North America.
