In 2009, Texas continued as the leader in aggregate wind power capacity by making history again with increases in installed wind capacity. Texas increased megawatts from 7,116 megawatts in 2008 to 9,426 megawatts (6,294 wind turbines) in 2009. This accomplishment is a testament to the proactive spirit of the public and private sectors to embrace Texas as the emerging market for wind energy and wind-related technologies.
